Does Sewing have to expensive?
NO -- recycle and frugal are two principals I stand on. I take old garments and try to update them or change them into cute wearables. I recently took a old men's shirt and recycled into a cute dress for my granddaughter by using the top of the dress from the shirt then cute cute fabric to make two layer ruffle skirt!! Very easy to do!! Just let your imagination go!!
Frugal --buy things on sales and applied for store discount cards when ever avilable for instance, Jo Ann's has a 10% VIP card which gives an additional 10% off you total sale. Cool!! But when I can take buttons or ribbing off an old worn shirt and recycle it into another garment that is Furgal as well. I make a lot of flannel recieving blankets for birth right or dosmetic volience centers at Christmas time, but I only buy flannel on sale and never pay more than $3.00 to $4.00 a yard, buying thorough out the whole year!!
There are many ways to be a frugal seamstress, if you just think about it. I love new fabric but I just don't love the prices, so I only buy good fabric for a heriloom project, things that will be past thorough the years. The new fabric is lusious and such a treat but then I get hung up on cutting it, so cheaper fabric is a very good way to make what I call LOVE items, ones that are going to be used everyday.
Just a few thoughts for the day!!
Tara
